Fixed Operations Consulting

ATcon provides the most highly customized, current, and effective consulting available for an automobile/truck dealership’s fixed operations (service department, parts department, and/or body shop).

Fixed operations consulting is much more than simply imposing standard processes to generally recognized concerns in the majority of dealerships. The term “in-dealership consulting” is reflective of the fact that true fixed operations consulting, service sales training, and process development cannot be done remotely.

Our team of fixed operations specialists has a long history of successful consulting efforts as well as a wealth of previous experience in the retail service, parts, and body shop environments.

Our process typically begins with a phone call to determine the particular concerns or untapped opportunities with which the dealership is dealing. If appropriate, an onsite assessment is scheduled and the consultant begins his process of establishing the best plan for the achievement of the dealership’s goals. It is well understood from the very beginning of this assessment that the consultant’s primary goal is to address the dealership concerns in a way that make the most sense given the situation at hand. Elements such as facility, market potential, customer demographic, staffing, and management style are all considered.

Typically this assessment of the fixed operations will cross from one department to another as appropriate. For example, no assessment of the service or body shop function would be complete without a look at the parts department. As well, the assessment of the parts department would require an examination of their best customer---the service department---and where appropriate, the body shop.

The assessment visit culminates with a detailed briefing of service department, parts department, and body shop management as well as the executive management team. Typical recommendations include simple DMS/process changes to more extensive merchandising, training/coaching, and organizational changes. Each recommendation is presented in light of the potential financial, customer retention, and operational improvements expected.

No recommendations for additional in-dealership consulting activities are made without a firm understanding of the potential return on investment.
